Joanna Tyka
Joanna Tyka graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland with Master Degree in 1978. Following her graduation she was included in the show at the Zacheta Museum, which is one of the most prestigious art institutions in Poland. The same year Ms.Tyka went to Germany and settled in Hamburg. During her life in Germany she had won many art awards, including the Altona Prize in Hamburg, and her work was exhibited in a several museum shows. After living in Germany for a few years she moved to Miami, Florida, where her distinctive style allowed her to create strong relationships with fine art societies and galleries in the United States, and Europe. During that time she accepted many commissions, especially from the world of music. Extensive list of her clients includes The Princeton Boys Choir, the Philadelphia Boys Choir, the University of Miami School of Music, the Florida International University Music Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany, the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Miami City Ballet. She was also involved in creating a large mural for "El Día de los Muertos" in Los Angeles she created works for a benefit for the Starlight Foundation.
Tyka has shared her love of art by teaching. In Germany she taught art classes at the Anthroposophy Institute of Rudolf Steiner at Volks Schools. In Miami she taught at Miami Dade College, the Jewish Community Center, and Coral Gables Community Center. Joanna Tyka had been in Miami for 20 years, but now living in Richmond, VA, where she paints full time, and teaches some classes in Visual Art Center.
