Michael Lowenbein
Born in New York, Michael began
painting at the age of ten by copying the work of Old Masters. After graduating
from the High School of Music and Art he went on to Pratt Institute, earning a
BA in Fine Arts. A two-year stint in the army as an officer in Paris followed.
While there, the people and scenes of Paris and its environs became subject
matter for his paintings.
A Connecticut resident for many years, Michael has combined his painting with a
successful career in commercial art. His work as an illustrator has appeared on
the covers of Reader's Digest and other magazines, in various children's books
and national advertisements for major corporations. For the past ten years he
has concentrated on his painting, accepting commissions and exhibiting in
galleries and shows.
