ROB NYE

Rob Nye Studio© is the sole producer of original Extractionist™ fine art paintings in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Nye creates his work by extracting human and natural forms he sees embedded in tiny bits of weathered stone and metal. His perceptions are then translated into large scale paintings using a unique, self-developed process combining oil paint, ink dye, oil-based pastels, and high gloss acrylics to produce arresting images of unsurpassed depth and brilliant color. Mr. Nye credits his perceptual abilities in this area to a positive offshoot of his lifelong affliction with visual Dyslexia. He says of his abilities: "This problem has always forced me to visually concentrate harder on making sense of what others around me seem to see with impunity. I suppose that is why I have acquired an ability to perceive a multitude of visually staggering images embedded within small commonplace materials everywhere I look. What is 'normal' for me is to focus beyond a static, solitary object and see the myriad of images resident within it."

Rob Nye has received a BFA degree from the University of Southern California; worked for thirty years variously as a film producer, senior advertising executive, and Senior VP/Creative Director for both national corporate and international philanthropic concerns. In 1999 he put aside these former endeavors to answer a life-long inner demand to discover where, and how he lives by means of a full time studied practice in the visual arts.
