Robin Cheers
Grounded in impressionistic tradition,
with a contemporary style all her own, Robin's paintings document the familiar
scenes of our daily lives. Settings may be relaxed interiors, bustling cafes or
sunny beaches, but the primary focus is on the human element. And avid sketcher,
Robin is skilled at depicting the figure. She brings gestural drawing elements
into her paintings. Her style is immediate, expressive and painterly.
Initially working in graphic arts and public relations for non-profits, Robin
has been able to dedicate herself to fine art full time for nearly a decade.
Robin credits classes with Elizabeth Locke in Austin for an excellent foundation
in traditional painting methods. "Once compositional and drawing skills are
mastered, the brush, hand and eye can work together to respond passionately to a
subject without over-thinking or over-working. I strive to capture and express
my first impression."
Robin's work is represented in galleries across the country and collected
internationally. She lives in Austin, Texas with her husband and daughter.
